Mendota/Monona
Looking for part-time or full-time, preferably full-time, instructors who will teach Opti learn to sail and racing on Lake Mendota. X-boat racing is offered on Lake Monona.
Madison Youth Sailing offers two week sessions for learn to sail Opti in the morning from 9-11, and then racing/ intermediate Opti in the afternoons from 12-4. Opti classes will be held on Lake Mendota, and we are planning on having a racing team that holds races in the evening on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We have a group of families in Maple Bluff that are interested in putting the racing together and holding it at their beach. Instruction on those nights would be offered.

X-boats will be held out of Schulter Beach on Lake Monona. The schedule is only in the afternoons. Madison is looking for experienced X sailors to teach this session.

If you are scheduling summer classes or summer employment, please consider working at this program to build it into a sailing school like you enjoyed as a youth. Contact Parker Waller or Ellen Poole
A little laugh
Lamphere meets Roble/Shea on water
Just after Scowlines was published today, Chuck and Sarah Lamphere were returning from practicing on a Flying Scot on the water in Miami to see Steph and Maggie going out for the afternoon big wind on the ocean. --- His words, "I expect that Beulah is going to be sending another sailor to the Games!".

Sure hope the ILYA sends another sailor or SAILORS!. There is nothing better for our organization than to rally around one of our teams. Who knows? We have two other teams practicing also -- Harry Melges IV/ Finn Rowe and Erik Bowers. With any luck, Malcolm Lamphere will join the group but college is still in the cards for him. Watch for a later entry into the trial process from our current college sailors.

Valentine's Day Opti Regatta
Congrats to our Team Trial Qualifiers
Chapman Petersen finished fifth overall but joining him in qualifying for the late spring Team Trials Qualifiers were Ellie Harned, Jacob Zils and Chicago-friend Jack Baldwin. Congratulations to all.

2017 Scow Calendar - Now Google Calendars available for many of our fleets
Get Your Regatta Listed
Our first listing of the 2017 events is included here in Scowlines. Added this week is Google calendars on the ILYA website. So pick your fleet and look at the bottom right of the calendar. There is a + Google calendar which allows you to add it to your devices. From there you can overlay your choice of calendar to see what your summer weekend will look like. --- a bit daunting if you are a C sailor and an X father.

As more regatta details are developed by host clubs, local directions, social packages, mooring requirements can be added to the Google calendar entries so contact Scowlines to have your info added. You will be given rights to edit your event. ---- The ultimate goal is ONE STOP SHOPPING!

There is no intent to omit anyone. Submit your event for inclusion. As you develop your NOR, the ILYA is happy to link to it so there is a consolidated site for all our events.
