USODA Team Trials -- Chapman Petersen - 16th!!

The Buddy Melges Racing Team traveled to Brant Beach, NJ for the USODA Team Trials. With practice days before, measurement day and the regatta, the team spent 10 days enjoying early season sailing. Marek Valasek and Scott Norman served as coaches for the team.

Geneva's Chapman Petersen finished 16th overall which lands him a spot on an international team. A check of the USODA site lists the following sailors who may be assigned to teams: Chapman Petersen, Will Michels, Jacob Zils, Ellie Harned.

Written Dues Renewals
Executive Director Dave Berg is readying the written, snail-mail version of the renewal forms. Save him time and money by registering online.

If you are bogged down by problems with locating your number, please email the editor and she will give you your registered contact info to get you through the process. ---- It should be most straightforward however if you have not changed emails.

Regatta Registration
The MC and C Invite along with the X Championships regatta registration sites are open.

 Sponsorship/Social
The Executive Committee met and pricing is similar to last year but a reduction in overall package allows you to save. Friday UBS night will be a genuine Friday night Fish Fry with pork as an alternative protein. Saturday night will be prime rib with chicken as an alternate protein. Breakfasts remain free again as well as after-race appetizers.

Your donation is ALWAYS welcome right up to the start of the event but a commitment today assists with improved "extras" to the sailors. Consider a title sponsorship, general donation or any other support to the last of three great years of the ILYA Championships at the Buddy Melges Sailing Center at Lake Geneva Yacht Club. Contact David Perrigo to offer sponsorship. Title events available are the AM morning video shows and the NEW after race de-briefs. Want your name somewhere, just ask David Perrigo.

Inside seating upstairs with a view and perhaps quiet - but there is the bar there - is available as a donation to the ILYA which is a 501(C)(3) organization. Have an elderly parent/friend who needs to be assured of reserved seating, consider a donation of $100 per seat for the event. Meal tickets are extra. This is a means to assist with the operation of the organization. Tables are large and hold ten so join with another boat to reserve a table or enjoy meeting new friends. You will have a reserved sign on your table so take the opportunity to show a logo or boat name/number on your table.

Look for the registration site to be operational soon.

2017 Wisconsin MC Championships - June 24-25
Nagawicka YC - Hartland, WI

Open to sailors who sail on WI lakes
Does that mean anyone? Last year, Oconomowoc welcomed several MN sailors to the event. So check out Nagawicka's website for registration, mooring, social plans. Check here for more info.

Cedar C Icebreaker
 Best of All Worlds
Too much wind on Saturday which allowed the sailors to enjoy each other, the Derby Race and Cedar hospitality. Two nice races in cold weather on Sunday and it's a regatta. Rarely do sailors experience the type of homecooking and care exhibited by Cedar, IN. Commodore Donna Growden assured another successful year by maintaining the wonderful Icebreaker traditions. Mount Gay Rum for incentive prizes, great softgoods. Thanks, Cedar.
TOP FIVE RESULTS (Final - After Two Races)
1.) Matt Prange, Katie Bruder, and Debbie Prange, E-111: 3 - 1 = 4
2.) Dave Harris, Lou Morgan, and Quinn Harris, OO-824: 1 - 7 = 8
3.) John Porter and Pat Welscher, B-317: 5 - 3 = 8
4.) Joe Byrnes and crew, B-12: 6 - 4 = 10
5.) Joe Schaub and Liz Bernstein, T-17: 4 - 6 = 10

Wawasee E Regatta - June 11-12
Tito's - need we say more?
by Ryan Brandenberger
Lake Wawasee is located in northern Indiana and generally draws 30+ boats to the regatta with many coming back year after year.   "One cool thing this year is Tito's Vodka is sponsoring us and is really going all in with gear for the sailors, fun items for give aways and of course vodka.  We are also expecting local brewerys to have plenty of beer and some local restaurants will be helping keep everyone full."

Registration is on the Wawasee website www.wawaseeyachtclub.com. Please fill out the registration form so the club can get a good idea on the number of boats and people we will have! The cost of entry is $140 and dinner on Saturday night will be available for purchase at registration. We are working on housing for every boat that signs up. If you have already made housing plans please let us know so we can keep track of everyone
