The 2024 ILYA X Boat Championship was hosted in fine fashion by the Delavan Lake Yacht Club - DLYC. As has been the case most of the summer, the fickle wind made the RC's job difficult if not close to impossible. They took advantage of every opportunity to get a race in. The Senior Fleet achieved one on Thursday night, and both fleets got one in on Friday, leaving many to worry on Saturday morning that the sailors might not get a regatta in if the wind continued to hold out. However, the wind did show up and lead by Mark Tesar on the Senior course, they raced two more and Chip Mann got 3 races off in 3 hours on the Junior Course to give each fleet 4 races.

Delavan showed out with fine food, drink, karaoke, volleyball, swimming and just general fun for all while the racing teams waited for the wind to gather.
Lake Geneva Yacht Club continued its hot streak on the volleyball court, defeating CEDAR LAKE YACHT CLUB in the finals. The adults even got into the act, leading many a hamstring to sound an alarm. Luckily all made it to the party.

Fiona Trester who gave her all for the Cedar Lake Volleyball team, suffered a sprained hand in the final, but her generous, kind and thoughtful nature led her to receive the Goes sportsmanship award from Past Commodore Candace Porter. She is the third generation in her family to have received it following in the footsteps of her mom Megan Trester and her grandfather Rick Trester.

The 2024 ILYA Junior X Boat Championship saw a familiar face on the podium, Will Utz, the ILYA 2022 Junior X Boat Champion, who, sailing with Elsie Niedziela aboard the V-312 Will.I.am won the 2nd and 4th Races to finish 3-1-2-1 for a ten point victory. His closest competitor was V-92 Stunami skippered by Stuart Niedziela and crewed by Owen Black. Third place and 1st race winner was the Top Female Skipper I-86 Got Speed, helmed by Tilly Niemann with crew Emery Otzen. V-74 Nick Berkowitz and McKinley Evans was the third Pewaukee Yacht Club boat to place in the top 5. While Ivar & Slate Eiseman sailing I-27 Ivar Comin' For Ya made it 2 Lake Geneva Yacht Club boats to round out the top 5.
